LAUNDRYMAT, 550 Highways 1 and 52: ????
Next to Cheraw Fast Lane lies an empty lot and then a small, brick building labeled "LAUNDRYMAT". I am not sure if I vaguely recall seeing a laundromat here in the past or if I am merely picturing one in my head, but the faded, painted letters on the side of the building leave no doubt this was a laundromat. All of the machines appear to have been scrapped or sold. Not having any frame of reference for this former business, I have no idea when it closed...or even when it was open for that matter. Curiously, the old laundromat building and the adjacent empty lot are together one big lot owned by Carolina Canners, according to the Chesterfield County GIS data website.
