South Carolina National Bank / Wachovia / Palmetto Paint Brush (relocated), 165 Market Street: September 14, 2019
For many years, this location was a bank. During the 1980s and 1990s, I recall this place being a South Carolina National Bank branch. When South Carolina National Bank merged with Wachovia sometime in the mid-1990s, this branch was branded as a Wachovia. Eventually Wachovia was acquired by Wells Fargo, though I am not sure if this location was ever used by Wells Fargo as a branch. A bank deposit box can still be found on the outside.
During the last year or so, Palmetto Paint Brush had been in this building and provided art classes to children and adults. More information about this business may be found at its Facebook page. On July 21 on the Facebook page, Palmetto Paint Brush first mentioned having to move out of the building. A post about a final move was made for September 14 hence the closing date I have added at the top. I cannot find any information on if Palmetto Paint Brush has found a new location, but if I eventually find that out, I will add an update.
